Wooden floor cleaning: more than a mop and all-purpose cleaner.

We clean lacquered, oiled, and untreated wooden floors with products that nourish the wood instead of damaging it.

The problem

What goes wrong with wooden floors

Wood reacts to everything: water, chemicals, heat, and friction. Mopping too wet causes the wood to swell. All-purpose cleaners strip the protective layer. And abrasive products create tiny scratches that trap dirt. Most damage to wooden floors comes not from use, but from wrong cleaning.

Too much water causes wood to swell and can lead to permanent damage
All-purpose cleaners and ammonia strip the lacquer or oil layer
Microfibre cloths on a dry floor cause fine scratches
Wrong products leave a sticky residue that attracts dirt
Oiled wood requires entirely different products than lacquered wood
When you need it

When professional cleaning is needed

Regular vacuuming and light damp mopping is fine for daily maintenance. But sometimes more is needed.

The floor has become dull despite regular cleaning
Stains that will not come out with regular products
The floor feels sticky from cleaning product buildup
After a renovation, construction dust and cement on the wood
Before selling or renting, the floor needs to look its best
Annual maintenance to keep the protective layer in condition
What we clean

Which wooden floors we clean

How it works

How we clean wooden floors

Tailored to the type of wood and finish.

1

Identify wood type and finish

Is it lacquered, oiled, or untreated? Solid or engineered? This determines which products and method we use. A wrong choice here means damage.

2

Remove dust and loose dirt

Thorough vacuuming with a soft nozzle. Sand and grit are the biggest enemies of wood, they need to come out first.

3

Cleaning with wood-specific product

We clean with a mist of the right product, minimal moisture, maximum result. For oiled wood we use soap that nourishes the oil. For lacquered wood a pH-neutral cleaner.

4

After-treatment if needed

For oiled wood we apply a maintenance oil after cleaning. For lacquered floors we polish dull spots. The wood is left protected.

Why professional

Why professional wooden floor cleaning

We know the difference between lacquered, oiled, and waxed wood, and use the right products for each.
Professional machines clean with minimal moisture. No risk of swelling or water marks.
After cleaning we treat the floor so the protective layer stays intact or is renewed.
If we are unsure about the finish, we always test on an inconspicuous spot first.
The result

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I wet-mop my wooden floor?
In moderation. A lightly damp mop is fine, but a wet mop is harmful. Water that seeps into the joints causes the wood to swell.
How often should a wooden floor be professionally cleaned?
For most households, once a year is sufficient. With heavy foot traffic (family with children, pets), twice a year may be better.
What is the difference between lacquered and oiled wood?
Lacquered wood has a hard protective layer on top. Oiled wood is saturated with oil, the protection is in the wood itself. Both require different products.
Can you remove rings and water stains?
On oiled wood, often yes: we sand locally and re-oil. On lacquered wood, a water stain is sometimes beneath the lacquer layer and cannot be removed without sanding.
Do you use a scrubbing machine?
Only machines designed for wood, with soft pads and controlled moisture. Never a standard scrubbing machine meant for tile.
How soon can I walk on the floor again?
After cleaning, immediately. After an oil treatment, we recommend 4 to 6 hours of drying time before walking on it.
