Why is there mould in the seals of my uPVC windows?
Condensation runs down the glass and sits in the rebate and against the seals. Rubber dries slowly and collects dust, and together that is enough for mould. Opening a window after a cold night and wiping it dry helps.
What are those small holes at the bottom of the frame for?
They are drainage holes: they let water run from the rebate to the outside. If they clog with dirt, the water stays inside. We clear them during the work, because otherwise the rebate is soon wet again.
Can I clean uPVC frames with a cream cleanser?
Better not, because a cream cleanser makes the smooth surface rough and dull. Dirt and mould then cling to it even better. A mild product and a soft cloth are enough for the frame itself.
