The cupboard base has swollen, can it still be saved?
Getting the mould off usually works, but swollen chipboard will not go flat again and stays vulnerable to moisture. We clean and treat, and say honestly when a new base panel is the wiser choice. Fitting that is a job for a kitchen fitter.
What do I do with the things that were in the cupboard?
Cleaning products in sealed bottles can be wiped down and put back. Sponges, cloths, paper and cardboard with mould are better thrown away. We empty the cupboards and set everything aside, so you can decide what goes back in.
Can I use the kitchen during the work?
You can use the worktop again shortly afterwards. The cupboards below are best left open and empty for a while so they dry. Cooking during the work itself is awkward, as we will be lying with our heads under the kitchen unit.
