What does a video of mould show that a photo misses?
A video shows how the spots relate to each other and to the rest of the room. On a photo a spot sometimes looks bigger or smaller than it is, and you miss what sits just out of frame. Photos are fine as a second choice, for instance if your phone is short on storage.
Should I film the area around the spot as well?
Yes, please. Show whether there is a window, radiator, shower or cupboard nearby and what the room looks like. That helps us judge how much covering is needed and whether there is a pattern pointing to condensation or something else. It makes the quote more accurate.
I cannot get the camera close to the ceiling. Is that a problem?
No, just film from the floor pointing upwards and zoom in slightly on the worst patches. We do not need a razor-sharp image, only an idea of the extent. Do not climb on a wobbly chair to get a better shot, it is not worth it.
