What does approved actually mean?
That the product has been assessed and authorised for a specific application. Approval for surfaces in food production says nothing about use in healthcare; it is per application and not general.
Can I use a household product myself?
For cleaning yes, for disinfection not where a specification applies. A product without approval for your application does not count at an inspection, even if it works perfectly well in practice.
Where do I find that number?
On the product label and in our report. Ask every provider for it: if somebody cannot name it, you know the product has not been checked for your application.
