Why less water on a clammy sofa?
Because the foam already holds moisture. Extra water sinks in and does not come back out, and you get exactly the musty smell the treatment was meant to solve.
How long does drying take then?
With forced drying three to six hours, without it easily double. On a sofa that was already clammy we schedule the drying as standard, because without it the risk is too high.
Do I need to move the sofa?
A few centimetres off the wall after treatment, yes. That costs you nothing and it stops the foam taking up moisture from the cold wall again, which is the real cause.
