Should I let chocolate cool first?
Yes, soft chocolate smears. Let it harden, perhaps with an ice pack in a plastic bag on top, then ease it off the fabric with the blunt side of a knife. Whatever remains is for us.
Why does a chocolate stain stay greasy after cleaning it myself?
Because water and soap remove the sugar and part of the colour but leave the fat from the cocoa butter. That greasy patch then darkens with dust. A degreasing treatment sorts it out.
Do coloured sweets always leave a mark?
Not always, but bright red or blue dye bonds quickly to some fabrics. The sooner we are there, the more comes out. If the colour has drawn into the fibre, a trace can remain, and we let you know beforehand.
