Why do I get a ring when I only use water?
Water dissolves dirt from the filling, and while drying it evaporates fastest at the edge of the wet patch. The dirt travels to that edge and stays there. So water alone does not worsen a stain, but it does make an edge visible.
Does a water mark come out again?
In most cases it does, certainly when it is dirt. If soap or a harsh product was used that has affected the fabric’s colour, a faint trace sometimes remains. You only see that once the ring itself has gone.
How do I deal with a stain without making a ring?
Blot only with a dry cloth and use as little moisture as possible. A fresh stain is better left alone than made wet. If in doubt, send us a video; we tell you honestly whether you can handle it yourself or should leave it.
