Why do you do the hallway last?
Because we walk in and out with equipment during the visit ourselves. If we did the entrance first, it would be dirty again by the end. Doing it last keeps it clean until you or the children get home.
Do you clean the doormat?
We vacuum it and clean the floor underneath, because that is where most sand collects. A mat that can go in the washing machine you can of course wash yourself; we put it back after mopping.
Does a second doormat really help?
It makes a noticeable difference. A coarse mat outside and a soft one inside together catch most of the sand before it reaches the hallway. That is a tip, not a condition; we clean the house just as thoroughly either way.
