Chair cleaning in Enschede often means two kinds of backrest side by side in the office: stretched mesh and upholstered fabric. In use they feel similar, but they need opposite approaches. Fabric with foam behind it can take a rinse, while mesh has no filling and wants a brush with very little moisture.

Does cleaning stretch the mesh?
Not the way we do it. We use little moisture and a soft brush and never pull on the mesh. If the mesh is already baggy or has come loose from the frame, we cannot put that right, because we do not do repairs.
Why do you treat mesh differently from fabric?
Because there is nothing behind it. Fabric with foam behind takes up water and gives it back to the extractor, but on mesh the moisture runs straight through to the clamped edge and dries there as a visible line.
Does a chair with a mesh back dry faster?
The backrest does, because it holds little moisture and air passes right through. The upholstered seat needs longer, so only use the chair again once you can no longer feel any damp in the seat with your hand.
