Why do I see marks on my velvet after cleaning?
Probably not stains but pile shadow. The fibres are not lying in one direction and the light catches differently. Brushing it out in one direction solves it and is part of the treatment.
Can velour be wet cleaned at all?
Often yes, but it depends on the fabric code. Cotton velvet usually tolerates water; some synthetic velours shrink or flatten permanently. The label governs and we always test first.
Does the pile stay flat after drying?
Not if it is brushed up while drying. Let it dry flat and it stays flat, and that cannot then be repaired. On pile fabric that finishing step is the most important part.
