Why does my sofa look patchy while it is still wet?
Because wet fibre is darker and lies in different directions. That disappears as the sofa dries and the fibre stands up again. So only judge once everything is dry, and look at the sofa in daylight.
Should I brush the sofa myself after it dries?
Usually there is no need, but it can help on fabrics with a pile. A soft clothes brush in one direction, without pressure, is enough. A hard brush or rubbing back and forth does more harm than good.
Why do you plump up the cushions?
Because the filling gets pressed down during cleaning and would dry in that shape. Plumping brings air back into the foam or fibre filling, so the cushion has its volume again when you sit down.
