What should I do with a fresh stain?
Blot with a dry white cloth, from the outside in, and do not rub. Rubbing pushes the stain into the fibre and widens the edge. Water is fine; soap less so without knowing what the fabric tolerates.
Why is treating it yourself risky?
Because the wrong product sets the stain. Supermarket stain removers on the wrong fabric code in particular make a stain permanent, and then we cannot do anything with it either.
Do pet stains come out?
Fresh urine usually, if you are quick. Dried-in urine is in the filling rather than the fabric, and then the smell is the problem rather than the mark; that needs treatment of the foam.
