Why does a panelled door take longer?
Because it is made of panels with edges rather than one flat surface. Every edge catches dust and has to be gone over separately, and across twelve doors that is an hour nobody sees but everybody notices.
Can an abrasive be used on old gloss?
Never. Old lacquer is thin and the colour is in the layer itself. A rubbed-through patch cannot be polished out and means the whole door has to be repainted.
Is my original ironmongery included?
Yes, with a cloth and without a product that attacks the patina. Old brass or bronze is not meant to be polished bright; that layer is exactly what makes it original and it cannot be brought back.
