Will an air freshener fix it?
Usually not. A strong scent raises the question of what is underneath. We would rather tackle the source, because a house smelling of nothing reads as more credible to a buyer than one smelling of flowers.
Do I need to tidy everything away?
For the photos yes, because clear surfaces make a home look larger. For us it is not necessary: we work around your things. But the result is better with less out, and that goes for the photos too.
